DOCTORS AT ALPHA SPINE CENTER ARE EXPERTS IN DETECTING AND CORRECTING SCOLIOSIS.
WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS?
The natural anatomy of the human spine is designed to be straight when looking at it from the front or back. However, when the spine shifts from the center to either side by 10 degrees or more, it is called scoliosis. Scoliosis can occur at any age, but are most common during adolescence.
THE MOST COMMON TYPES OF SCOLIOSIS
(abnormality of the bone in the spine at birth)
80% of scoliosis are idiopathic (unknown cause)
Scoliosis is screened for in young children by their chiropractors, pediatricians, family doctors and middle schools.
COMMON SIGNS OF SCOLIOSIS – (Posture imbalance)
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO SCREEN FOR SCOLIOSIS?
A shift in the spine creates stress on the function of the nervous system. It also causes heart and lung problems, severe physical deformity, chronic back pain, and osteoarthritis. Curves should be detected early during childhood as they progress through adulthood.
HOW IS SCOLIOSIS MANAGED?
The doctors at the Alpha Spine Center (ASC) manage scoliosis by re-aligning the spine naturally. Straightening of the curve has consistently been seen by more than a couple of degrees within a MONTH. On the other hand, orthopedic surgeons specializing in the spine will monitor the curve, brace the curve, or correct the curve through a surgical procedure.
HOW IS SCOLIOSIS DETECTED & MANAGED AT ALPHA SPINE CENTER?
A thorough examination is conducted using orthopedic and neurological tests, nerve and muscle scans, as well as x-rays to determine the diagnosis and prognosis of the scoliosis. If you or your child have scoliosis call Alpha Spine Center to book an appointment with one of our doctors.
